ART GALLERY of the PROVERBS 31 WOMAN

This piece of art was submitted by Janet Pollard of Houston, Tex. Janet felt that this picture was a perfect illustration of the ability of the
Proverbs 31 Woman to multi-task.

We can all relate to her, can't we?

Every piece of art invokes an emotional response, so please leave your critique of this fine piece of art work, or your comments of appreciation below.

You may also enter your own picture / cartoon which will be proudly displayed in this gallery. Send images to Joy at her email address.

"SHE EXTENDS HER HANDS TO THE NEEDY..."

(UPDATED 10/14)

Proverbs 31:20 says~ "She extends her hand to the poor, and stretches out her hands to the needy.

The women of SBC are ready and willing to stretch out their hands to help the poor and needy victims of this catastrophic hurricane! I believe that our efforts may be more effective if we joined hands w/ a larger organization. Here are some opportunities that we've checked into:
  1. Christ for Humanity~ so far they have not contacted me w/ specific info about any projects they are involved w/.
  2. Tulsa Housing Authority~ the org. in charge of the housing projects in Tulsa. Very pro-Christian and have coordinated w/ us to do Bible studies etc in apartments. They are housing hurricane evacuees in some of the apt. complexes in Tulsa (Comanche is one of them) They would probably appreciate our church's involvement w/ these people. The contact info is Robin Birchfield 581-5732~ she's the person in charge of housing for these people.
  3. Red Cross is no longer an option.
  4. Salvation Army~ if anyone plans to go out to Camp Gruber, they have to first be screened by SA. Not sure how this process works, but you can't just show up at Camp Gruber and expect to help out, etc. You have to go thru SA's volunteer screening process.
I would make one comment here~ these THA apt. complexes can be dangerous places, (esp. Comanche.) Any ministry should be carefully coordinated w/ Tulsa Housing.

SCHEDULE FOR WOMEN'S BIBLE CLASSES

Titus 2:3-5 instructs the older women to teach the younger women how to:

  • love their husbands
  • love their children
  • be sensible and pure
  • be workers at home....so that the Word of God will not be dishonored
Tapestry Women's Ministry is offering Bible classes which have been designed to accomplish these goals. Following is the teaching schedule w/ a brief description of the topic study.

(*Dan will be out of town for classes w/ *, so you won't miss out on his teaching. Tapestry has made an effort to provide these special women's studies during times when Dan would be gone anyway.)

*Sept 21--Loving Your Children- Lesson 1-Rhonda Gross

What does the Bible say about child training? This class will provide the Biblical foundation for the responsibility of parents to discipline and train their children.

*Sept 28 (schedule change)--Loving Your Children- Lesson 2

This study builds on Lesson 1 and will look at how God disciplines His children, and how we can use this as a model for disciplining our own children. Detailed guidelines on the appropriate use of spanking will be given.

*Oct 5 (schedule change)--Loving Your Children-Lesson 3-Rhonda and Joy Arnold

How do you train kids to do their chores or be responsible w/ their money? This study will deal w/ building character traits into your kids. We will also look at ways of praying for our kids. There will be a Q & A session at the end.

*Oct 2--The Single Woman-Erin Stark

How do you prepare yourself for the husband that God has planned for you? What should you be involved w/ while you wait patiently for God's plan to unfold for your life? This study will deal w/ issues that face today's single woman.

*One Accord Prayer Workshop-Joy Arnold (new date--TBA)

"Lord, teach us to pray!"~ We are always striving to improve our personal prayer lives. This class will offer ideas and enhancements for the women who are already involved in One Accord Prayer. It would also be the ideal time for someone new to join this vital ministry at SBC. There will be a special emphasis on "Praying for Our Husbands".

Dec 7--Proverbs 31 Woman-Lesson 1--Nina Johnson

"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Is this an impossible goal? Yes~ but w/ God, all things are possible! Come learn some principles from Proverbs 31 and how God wants to mold you into this kind of woman.

Oct. 16--Loving Your Children Part 4--Rhonda Gross
This will be the conclusion of our study on child training. This class will include information about stages of child training, roles of grandparents, and praying for our kids. We will have a Q&A session at the end of this class.

*Nov 6 and 9--(2) classes--How to NOT talk so your husband will listen-Joy Arnold

It's the age-old conflict between "The Gen. 3:16 Woman" and "The Proverbs 31 Woman." God's curse for Eve in the Garden was that she would have an instinctive desire to control her husband, but God's perfect plan is for the husband to rule over the wife. Obviously, these 2 opposing principles will inevitably create conflict. How does a wife avoid these pitfalls in marriage? How do we encourage our husbands w/o nagging and becoming contentious? This study will deal w/the difficulties of communication in marriage.

Re-scheduled for some time in January--Loving Your Husband-Pat Hill

God instructs us to learn how to love our husbands. (This must mean that it doesn't always come naturally!) This study will deal w/ specifc ways a wife can demonstrate her love for her husband, even during those inevitable times in marriage when there are "bumps in the road".

  • Note: Please check this site frequently for any changes in schedules or topics. Invariably, someone's schedule will change and we'll need to shuffle some of the classes around.
